Bachata Advanced — 6 weeks

Time to step up, and dive deeper into the art of Dancing

This term is designed for dancers who already know Bachata, but feel that there is something more to discover.

At Nexus, we believe dance is not about accumulating more and more moves.

Dance is an art of connection : with the music, with another human being, and with yourself.

This intermediate term invites you to move beyond choreography and explore the depth, presence, and authenticity that make a dance truly alive.

A Different Approach to Learning

Many dance schools focus primarily on teaching sequences and combinations.

Students learn moves, memorise patterns, and repeat them.

Over time, dancers often start to feel that everyone dances the same way.

At Nexus, we choose a different path.

Instead of creating dancers who simply reproduce patterns, we focus on developing the skills and awareness that allow each dancer to find their own expression.

Our goal is not to produce dancers from a factory.

Our goal is to help each person become an artist in their own dance.

Because when connection, musicality, and presence are there, the dance becomes unique every time.

When Something Feels Missing

This term may resonate with you if you have been dancing for a while and you feel that :

• You know many moves, but your dance sometimes feels mechanical • Social dancing can start to feel repetitive • You notice many dancers moving in similar ways • You want to feel more connection with the music and your partner

• You judge yourself or feel judged • You encounter the feeling to not be enough • You want your dance to feel more authentic and alive

Sometimes along the journey, we forget why we started dancing in the first place.

This term is an invitation to return to the essence of dance.

Exploring the Deeper Layers of Bachata

Dancing with real connection requires more than technique.

It asks for presence, vulnerability, grounding, and listening.

During this term, we will explore elements such as :

• Authentic connection with your partner • Musical interpretation and emotional presence • Body awareness and grounded movement • Sensitivity in leading and following • Space for expression within the partnership • Trust and responsiveness in the dance • Letting go of performance and ego

These are the elements that transform a dance from a sequence of steps into an experience.

For Followers

If you sometimes feel:

• Like you are simply executing moves like a doll • Like your role is to “look good” rather than truly dance • That there is little space for your own expression • That connection sometimes feels secondary to performance

This space invites you to rediscover your voice inside the dance, your musicality, and your presence.

For Leaders

If you sometimes feel:

• Stuck in your head while dancing • Pressure to constantly produce moves • Responsible for “entertaining” the dance • Disconnected from the music or from your partner

This term invites you to move out of the mind and back into the body, developing a leadership that comes from presence rather than pressure.

A Shared Journey

Bachata can become a powerful mirror.

It shows us how we relate, how we listen, how we lead, how we surrender.

Through this exploration, dancers often rediscover the original reason they fell in love with dance : the joy of connection.

When dancers learn to truly listen (to the music, to their partner, to themselves) the dance becomes something much deeper than steps.

It becomes a living dialogue.

Who Is This For?

This term is for dancers who :

• Already dance bachata and know the fundamentals • Are ready for the next step in their dancing journey • Want to deepen their connection and musicality • Feel curious about the psychological and relational dimension of dance • Want to develop their own style and expression • Are ready to explore dance beyond technique
